In 2005, Endesa relied on MMYPEM for the commissioning of the Cristóbal Colón Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant in Huelva, located in the Industrial Park “Punta del Sebo”, at the confluence of the Tinto and Odiel rivers.

In 2005 a modernization project for the installation was approached, transforming the power of its three thermal groups into a group of technology of Combined Cycle much more efficient and respectful with the environment. Currently the plant has a power of 400 MW. The Generation Group is a Combined Cycle without post-combustion; is formed by a Gas Turbine, a Recovery Boiler and a Steam Turbine. The Gas Turbine and the Steam Turbine, have a high performance that reaches a value of 56%, compared to 40% that can reach conventional thermal power plants. This performance improvement allows for the same electrical production, a fuel saving that reverts directly to the reduction of emissions of gases to the atmosphere and the optimization of the use of natural resources.

It has an advanced combustion system as it has specific low NOx burners that guarantee to keep these emissions within the established limits.
